Father's Bring Instant Relief

This Father's Day was HOT! After Stake Conference, we all huddled around the window AC unit. I kept asking David if he wanted to drive somewhere cooler and he kept saying that he wanted to stay home. But, even David has a breaking point. The moment came at around 4ish when the AC unit couldn't keep up with the 110 degree heat outside. Enough was enough. We ran to the car and drove to Montara State Beach (just outside of Pacifica) for instant relief. It was 70 degrees here.

In a world where fathers are less and less present in their children's lives, I'd like to pay tribute to this dad who is actively engaged in the lives of each of his children. Where I am weak, he is strong. We all rely on this strength to hold us together. Happy Father's Day David!!

In Search of Salmon

One of Dad's request while here was to eat a juicy salmon. So, we drove to Monterey and walked along the wharf reading the menus. We settled on a Domenico's and were thrilled to be seated at a window with a view of the bay. We enjoyed watching fishing boats come and go with seals following them. The food was fantastic! Dad's salmon was cooked the way he wanted and we all left with full tummies. Next, we drove a little ways south to tour the Carmel Basilica Mission and ended the day at the white sand beach. It was such a beautiful day.

A Rare Sunny Day in Pacifica

Our first full day together with Mom and Dad was spent in Pacifica, of course. We had lunch at the Taco Bell on the beach while watching the surfers and the sun burn off the fog. Then we drove through the tunnel towards Half Moon Bay to explore the bunker on the hill. We scaled some cliffs, walked a tightrope through a narrow ravine, and had a bit of a run-in with the law; all for an amazing view. Totally worth it though!

Pacifica isn't complete without walking on the pier and playing on the beach. While walking on the promanade, I turned around to see Loni holding a stick in her hand mimicking her Grandpa. It was the cutest and funniest part of the day.

24 Years

What better way to spend our wedding anniversary than with our children. David came home from work a little early so we could beat rush hour traffic on the 17. Believe it or not, it was 90 degrees in Santa Cruz! We rode some rides, ate, and played at the beach until the sun set. I am so blessed to have six amazing children that resulted in David and I getting married.
