Another Halloween

Halloween is always a fun holiday for any age. Dave-o is at that perfect age for any holiday. We all feed off his excitement.
Loni cried hysterically when she saw James in his costume.
Our spider friend even enjoyed a Halloween treat.

School Halloween Party

I put together a little Halloween party for Dave-o, homeschool style. His friend, Jacob was able to join us as well.
First, they decorated bags.
Then, they did Math with candy.
A game of "who can throw the baby spiders closest to its mommy in the web" was a hit.
The two boys had fun predicting which candy bars would float for Science. This was a fun way to learn about density.
Snack time! Decorating sugar cookies was a must. I learned that Dave-o REALLY likes sprinkles.
I found some skeletons at the Dollar Store and made a game out of them. If they rolled a 6, they could take a skull; for a 5, take a body; for a 4, take a leg; for a 3, take an arm; for a 1 or 2, take a foot. The first to assemble a complete skeleton is the winner.
We ended the party with a spooky art project.

Catching Flying Insect Experiment

For science, Dave-o learned about how birds catch flying insects and the important role different sized beaks play in what they eat. He made a cutting edge, state of the art beak out of an envelope. Catching the flying popcorn was harder than he thought. However, it made a yummy snack.

Creepy

I don't need to decorate the back yard for Halloween. It's already creepy.
I hate spiders, but their webs are a work of art that I admire.

Birthday Dinner

We had a fun dinner and birthday celebration at Mom and Dad Zinn's. Owen is turning seven this week. He's such a happy child. Watching him open his present was hilarious. He even passed out after it was over (fake pass out).

Halloween Party

(Kirsten posing with her friends, Johnny and Milo.)
We enjoyed yet another fun ward Halloween party. Dave-o has been counting down to this event for the last 3 weeks.
I recycled the hedgehog costume which won Loni the "Cutest Costume" award. Kirsten made her dress. She was going to be an archer, however the rest of the costume isn't finished yet. So, she made herself into an Egyptian princess.

David is Indiana Jones (a better looking version).
I had some fun with my makeup. Michele and I ran the cake walk game.

Loni likes playing with Justin's whiskers.
We were safe with Captain America.
James made a hazmat suit.

Winchester Orchestra

Steven's first concert with the Winchester Orchestra was this evening. I was so impressed! Benjamin Salisbury, a pianist, performed with the group on the final piece, Rhapsody in Blue. I have never seen anyone play like that. He's also LDS, which Steven suspected the first time he met him in dress rehearsals. Anyways, we had a lovely evening. Now, I need to buy us season tickets.
Steven's violin teacher made a guest appearance with the orchestra so that she could play with him. I love Barbara! She's amazing.
